WHAT’S IN A NAME?
November 14, 2011

Shakespeare said a long time ago, “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose. By any other name would smell as sweet.” And names have molded the way we perceive life, the way we see and define ourselves, the way live. Names are important for without them we would have no way to differentiate one thing from another, one person from the other. US lottery

Names also give the person or object a certain personality if we might say. An object, for example is given usually a certain characteristic, it is given an extra punch. Take for example lottery scratch-off tickets they have the most amazing names that describe not only the top prize but every word that was chosen for a certain game name fulfills its marketing purpose and also the name itself adds the magic to a piece of carton paper which could or could not make you a millionaire. Names like $500,000,000 Extravaganza or $3,000,000 Magnificent Millions are impressive names that are so intelligently well chosen that the only sound of the word used can bring up the sweetest images to pop up your mind just like that. And if you add to that powerful word that has been used as a name the bunch of zeros that come with the top prize, you have a scratch-off ticket name that is sure to cause an impression.

You are not that much of a lottery fan, but well, since you need to cash out a small price and you are already there, what would you do? Timothy Donnelly, a 64 year-old retired physician who rarely plays the Lottery was on his way to cash a $50 scratch-off prize when he saw the $500,000,000 Extravaganza ticket and suddenly as by magic he was drawn into it. We cannot judge Donnelly for taking note of this game, after all who wouldn´t fix their eyes on such a number as $500,000,000 which is astronomical for a scratch-off ticket or the word of “Extravaganza” which very well describes the number before this word in this amazing game name?

What is important is that Donnelly, drawn and attracted by this game decided to use the $50 that he had won and invest it in the hope of an extravagant prize. And that is exactly what happened, he was made a millionaire instantly!

This prize is paid as an annuity. . Donnelly will receive his prize in 20 annual payments of $50,000. He will receive an annual net check totaling $33,015 through 2030. Wow, all thanks to listening to your inner voice to buy a ticket with a name that caught your eye!

Donnelly claimed his $1,000,000 scratch-off jackpot at the Schenectady Customer Service Center on October 14. And this makes him the second jackpot winner from Cohoes in 2011. Deborah Hollenbach of Cohoes claimed her $3,000,000 Magnificent Millions jackpot on January 24 of this year.
