POWERBALL JACKPOT REACHES $180M
August 4, 2011

The drawing for one of the most popular lottery games in the world, Powerball, has gone without a winner again. This brings the jackpot to a massive $180 million, with a $100.3 million lump sum option. The tenth consecutive draw without a winner was held Wednesday. State lottery

However, even though nobody managed to win the massive jackpot, 13 lucky players managed to get 5 numbers right and are now eligible for $200,000 second place prizes. 2 tickets were purchased in Connecticut, 1 in Arkansas, 1 in Illinois, 1 in Florida, 1 in Kansas, 1 in Minnesota, 1 in Massachusetts, 3 in Ohio, 1 in North Carolina and 1 in New York. Unfortunately, out of the 13 lucky tickets, only the one from Arkansas was bought with the Power Play option, which multiplies the winner’s prize to a cool $1 million. That particular ticket was purchased at EZ Mart 429 in Tuckerman, Jackson County. Lottery winning numbers

Besides that, 54 more tickets managed to get 4 numbers and the Powerball correct and will receive $10,000. In fact, only 39 tickets will receive $10,000 as 15 of them were purchased with the Power Play option and already had their prize multiplied by 2, for a total of $20,000. Lottery checker

The lucky (or unlucky for some) numbers drawn Wednesday were 13, 19, 21, 28, 49 and the Powerball 11. The Power Play number was 2. The last time when a Powerball prize reached or went over this value was a couple of months ago, when a group of Costco workers from New York managed to win the astonishing $200 million jackpot.

There were exactly 1,290,407 winning tickets across the United States. The cumulated value of the prizes won is $10.5 million. More than 10 percent of the winning tickets (182,411) were purchased with the Power Play option. As you probably already know, the Power Play option costs $1 extra for every ticket and it can multiply your non jackpot prize by as much as 5 and as low as 2. However, if a ticket is purchased with the Power Play option and manages to win a second place prize, it will always be multiplied by 5.
