Jean Ransom, from Andover, Mass.  won $1 million during a live New Hampshire Lottery drawing held in front of thousands of fans before the start of the SYLVANIA 300 NASCAR race at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Her name was pulled out from a a drum of 16 finalists for the “NH Millionaire 3” instant scratch game drawing who were all present on stage. State lottery

“We couldn’t be more excited that Jean won the grand prize!” said Charlie McIntyre, Executive Director of the New Hampshire Lottery.  “It’s such a great feeling to hand over the ceremonial oversized check to someone who’s just become a millionaire. It’s truly the best part of my job.”

The drawing marks culmination of what the organizers call a fan-fest.  This included festivities, promotions, discounts, drawings, a whole week of events.  One of the highlights  was a new Guinness World Record.   The New Hampshire Lottery and the New Hampshire Motor Speedway announced that they were  the Guinness World Record holders for the world’s largest instant scratch ticket! The 36 foot, 2 inch tall by 18 foot, 8 inch wide “$1 Million Cash Spectacular” scratch ticket was certified by an adjudicator from Guinness World Records. Lotteries

Thousands of people watched on from their seats as the names of the 16 finalists were announced along with their prizes.

The runner-up, Shirley McGovern of Poinciana, FL,  received $10,000

Players who received a drawing entry symbol on their New Hampshire Millionaire 3 tickets were eligible to enter this amazing lucky draw. Two of the $1 million prizes were offered instantly while this third $1 million prize was won in this drawing.
