NEBRASKA LOTTERY UPGRADES EQUIPMENT
June 17, 2011

Over the next few months, the Nebraska State Lottery will bring in new equipment and upgrade machinery at almost 1,200 retailers. The star of the upgrade will be represented by the Altura GT1200 lottery terminal from the GTECH Corporation. The technology used to create it is brand new, and the store clerks will gain a lot of printing and ticket dealing speed. All the terminals will be linked in a network through a 3G wireless connection or a satellite. Powerball lottery

Customers will be happy to find out that a 17 inch screen will display their transactions, available jackpots and all the other lottery information a player can dream of. Also, the “Check-A-Ticket” feature will enable them to check their scratch tickets before stepping at the counter. Lotteries

“The lottery industry is driven by technology, and we’re very excited to use a system that takes advantage of the latest innovations,” Jim Haynes, Director of the Nebraska Lottery, stated. “With our new terminal system, we will continue to provide the Scratch and Lotto games our customers expect. The new system also gives us many options for future products that we think will resonate with our players.”

The system will be activated in 9 days, on June 26, and all retailers will keep both old and new terminals up to that date. The new terminals will aid players purchase their tickets much faster, and they will be able to play multiple lotteries without any hassle. The old terminals have been around since 2004, and Lottery officials finally decided they are outdated. The decision came last year, but it took until last May to finally decide who will provide the new terminals and also decide upon the terms of the agreement.

“Selecting GTECH as our unified gaming contractor fits the mission of the Nebraska Lottery to generate proceeds for good causes, while providing quality entertainment options to Nebraskans,” Jim Haynes added. “Their proposal included many benefits that will allow us to continue to support the environment, education, the Nebraska State Fair, and compulsive gamblers assistance.”

The new state of the art equipment will most likely astound lottery players, as it is quite different from the old one. However, the controls are very simple, so anyone will be able to master the new equipment without any problems. Mega lottery
