May has been a very good month for people in Wisconsin, it has produced three big winners now and Joel Goulet of Wausau is the third millionaire. Lottery winning numbers
Goulet went to the Lottery Headquarters to validate a $1,000,000 winning ticket from the Friday, May 25 Mega Millions jackpot drawing. After taxes, he received a lump sum cash payment of $672,500.
His is the third ticket sold in Wisconsin this month worth at least $1 million. On May 16 a woman in Chilton won $1 million in Powerball. That same night a Milwaukee man won a $2 million Powerball prize.
The winning Mega Millions ticket was purchased at Fast Break Mobil, 320 W. Thomas Avenue and at the time of the purchase Goulet chose to buy only one string of numbers and he used the quick-pick option. This means that he did not have any special numbers in mind and simply went in, asked for a ticket and accepted the numbers that the computer generated for him. Numbers which resulted to be winners. His ticket matched the five regular winning numbers in the May 25th drawing to win $250,000. However he had opted to add the Megaplier option to the ticket and that multiplied his winnings four times turning the winning ticket into a $1 million winner.
The May 25th Mega Millions winning numbers were 09, 15, 21, 40 and 54. The Mega Ball was 11 and the Megaplier was 04.
For selling Goulet’s ticket Fast Break Mobil earns a winning ticket commission of $20,000. Lottery retailers who sell winning tickets worth $600 or more earn the equivalent of 2% of the prize, up to a maximum commission of $100,000. This is a great way to incentive retailers who in turn promote Lottery products to customers. In the end if a customer wins, so does the retailer, the ultimate win-win situation.
As for the winner there was not much disclosed about what he will plan to do with his windfall money. Hopefully he will enjoy it fully and make good use of it.
