MARYLAND WOMAN DEFLATED BY WINNING DREAM
October 7, 2011

How many of us have always dreamed of winning the lottery?  How would it feel to have the winning ticket in our hands?  What are we to do with… well.. all of that money?  So much money we can hardly count !

A woman in Maryland though she was living the dream.  However she had a tough landing from that dream. Donna Allen has been playing lottery and she actually loves it.  She usually checks the numbers immediately after the drawing.

“Saturday night, just like any other night, I checked at ten after 8pm and it said 4157,” says Allen.

Apparently she had the winning ticket for Maryland’s Pick 4 game. Allen and her husband are both currently unemployed and this winning gave them peace and promised to solve some of their problems.

“Like the whole world was off my shoulders,” admits Allen.

She already knew how she was going to spend her $2,600.

“I said ‘Oh, my God. That’s our mortgage payment. That’s the electric bill. That’s the water bill’,” says Allen.

With this she went to sleep knowing that everything she was stressing about would be solved. However she crashed from that dream.

“I woke up Sunday morning and I had bought a Powerball ticket. I went back on the computer to see if I had won that and I glanced up at the computer and it said 3-5-7-4.”

“I said, ‘that’s not the number’,” reports Allen. She simply could not believe it so she went out and bought a newspaper just to confirm. National lottery

Her numbers were there. And she thought to herself: “I’m good. It’s in the paper.”

According to a  lottery employee  they had accidentally input the incorrect numbers on their website. She picked 4157 and the correct numbers were 3574.  Lottery representatives have admitted that this type of “human error” occurs, not frequently, but it occurs and when it does it is corrected usually a few minutes afterwards.  Allen thinks, however, that since this is their mistake and their problem,  the lottery should honor her ticket. “The lottery basically thrives on the backs of people who are hopeless. We’re looking for that little bit of luck to help us with those bills or whatever. When you get a windfall like this it’s really a big thing,”  Allen comments.  Of course that is until you are proved that your winning ticket was actually not a winner. State lottery
