You have won the lottery and there is some kind of instant cash in the form of a white little ticket, so fragile and a bit small, but a piece of paper that represents so much and has printed on it so many zeroes. What would you do? Most people would try to cash their winning ticket as soon as possible, and many would not be able to sleep until that money is safe in their bank accounts. We have reported cases wherein people not only cannot sleep they become very secretive about their tickets too, to such an extent that they lock up the ticket in a safety box. National lottery
However one Dumfries man, John Kaysak held on tight to a Powerball ticket worth $200,000 for quite a considerable period of time, three months actually. Mr. Kaysak must have a very good discipline, for others in the same type of situation would definitely go crazy. But he didn’t, he kept his cool and kept the ticket safe until he considered it was time he wanted to cash it. Lottery numbers
The Dumfries man matched the first five numbers in the September 17 Powerball drawing to win the game’s second prize.
“It’s a blessing,” he told Virginia Lottery officials when he redeemed the ticket at the Virginia Lottery’s Northern Virginia Customer Service Center in Woodbridge.
When he was asked why he waited three months to claim the prize, he simply said he was considering options.
Mr. Kaysak is retired from the U. S. Navy and this fact might help to understand the fact that he remained so calm after his win, he definitely knows how to master his mind and emotions and knows how to access the situation objectively. He bought the winning ticket at Pumps Food Mart, 17315 Jeff Davis Highway in Dumfries. As to the numbers that were drawn, he had no special set of numbers in mind so he used Easy Pick option. This option allows the computer to randomly select the numbers on his ticket, it’s quick and easy and as you may have noted people do win using this option.
The winning numbers for that drawing were 6-20-22-32-43 and the Powerball was 11. Mr. Kaysak’s ticket was the only one in Virginia to match the first five numbers in that drawing, and one of just seven nationwide.
If you won the lottery, would you be able to wait for three months before you cashed the winnings? Or like Mr. Kaysak you would sit quietly for three months considering what you can do with the money? Anyhow, he chose the best time to cash in this lucky windfall, with it he will surely start a new year with some cash and will be able to carry out any plans he has in mind.
