LUCKY FRIDAY 11/11/11
November 11, 2011

Today is a very special day for many groups around the world. It has different connotations for different groups. For some it marks the beginning of a new era where people are more conscious on all levels. For every culture these numbers will signify from unity, to understanding, to new beginnings. But for a an economy that is still picking up, there are more and more people investing their dollars in hope and a dream. National lottery

Everyone wants a piece of luck of today´s Friday November 11th, 2011 or 11/11/11, thanks to this set of numbers, lottery ticket sales are sky-rocketing. It seems this is the most popular lucky Friday ever, well at least for lottery retailers. The favorite numbers are of course the numbers of today´s date arranged in one row. This combination is very attractive for lottery players because it is a set of numbers won’t roll around again for another 100 years. However if you do believe that this set of numbers will bring you good luck, you might not have good luck in purchasing such a ticket, specially if you want to run and buy it today.

To ensure every winner gets paid, the lotteries cap sales of certain number combinations. In New York, for example, the Win4, which caps sales on any one number combination at $5 million, already sold out of 1-1-1-1 tickets for the November 11th drawing a week ago. Lottery numbers

Dale Garrison of Kansas City, Mo., played on 9/9/09 and didn’t win. She doesn’t think she’ll have much more luck on 11/11/11 either, but she still bought a ticket anyway.

According to economists who have been monitoring the rise and fall of sales through the years, they have observed that a large number of people like sit on the sidelines and wait to jump in when they see a big jackpot or for dates like this and usually there is an increase in sales of about 5% to 10%. This was recorded on July 7th, 2007. Lottery sales rose in 28 out of 44 states during the last fiscal year, according to financial records compiled by LaFleurs, a research firm that specializes in lotteries. Nineteen states notched record highs.

The New York Lottery, for example, recorded record revenue of $7.87 billion in fiscal 2011, which ended in March. Minnesota’s State lottery set its fourth consecutive record in a row in fiscal 2011, raking in $504 million in sales. As the year ends, more and more people are betting their buck in the hope that everything will be all right, that they will make things better. In difficult times, we all want to hold on to the hope that a better future will dawn upon us, that all our needs will be taken care of and that life is supposed to be positive, happy and sweet. For without hope and dreams, what would life be?
