LADY LUCK CAN ALSO COME DISGUISED AS A “MISTAKE”
October 10, 2011

Sometimes when destiny comes to knock at your door, it may come in many ways.  Kathy Scruggs, a 44 year old woman from Lithonia Georgia originally had wanted a ticket that was different from her winning ticket.  A ticket worth $25 million !

Scruggs had walked in a convenience store in Decatur, Georgia and had asked for a Mega Millions ticket but the lady gave her a Powerball ticket, so Scruggs ended up buying both tickets. State lottery

It was that Powerball ticket, however the one that would contain the whole set of winning numbers.  Yes it was a mistake, but a very sweet one too. Lotteries

”We were screaming and hollering, and everybody came running,” she remembers of the day of the drawing on the 14th of September. She was so excited that she woke the entire house.  She was simply awe-struck and still could not believe she had actually won.

Ms. Scruggs claimed her winning ticket on the 3rd October at the Lottery´s main office in Georgia. Mega lottery

Before this winning, Scruggs was working only part-time and although she had been looking very hard for a stable job she had not been able to find one. After this visit by lady luck, however she will be expected to be very busy.   Her first priority will be to build her mom and grandmother a home.  She also plans to treat herself to a new car and has her mind set in doing some traveling.   Helping others however is also a very important plan for Scruggs, who has the desire to give back for a new homeless foundation and also in providing dental care for those who can´t afford it.

“I’m happy and grateful,” she tells the Georgia Lottery. “I really am.”

The winning numbers  were 16-41-42-50-59-(5).   Scruggs chose the cash option and she will receive around $15 million after tax.
