When you are happy there´s nothing that you can do to deny it or try to keep it secret. It is designed to expand when you share it and feel it intensely. After all it is an expression true to your feelings and your state of well-being at a certain period of time. That is why we celebrate with good cheer the good luck of those whom we love and respect, and sometimes yes we also celebrate it with strangers, only for celebrations sake. National lottery
Wally Markham a retiree from Waterloo Iowa is the winner in Saturday’s Hot Lotto drawing, and obviously this reason alone can make anyone on earth a happy camper. Actually in this case “happy” is not even a good word to describe the emotion compared to winning the grand prize of $7.5 million. Let´s put it like this Wally was simply in ecstasy, and he couldn´t stop thinking about it and it wasn´t long before he told a bartender in Smitty’s bar on Sunday that he was the jackpot winner in Saturday’s Hot Lotto drawing.
So on Sunday, before Markham had even time to collect his big fat check, he was already celebrating his win with a bar full of strangers, all of them with drinks on their hand and cheering for his good luck. Of course the drinks would be courtesy of the lottery winner, it cost him a fortune. Lottery numbers
A fortune he went to collect at Iowa Lottery headquarters in Des Moines. Markham chose to take the lump-sum winnings of $3.947 million after federal and state tax withholdings. The jackpot ticket he bought at the Kwik Stop at 4335 Texas St. in Waterloo.
Funny enough, after spending prematurely his newfound fortune to celebrate with strangers, he has expressed that he is thinking about investing this windfall money and that he doesn´t have any immediate plans with this money yet. The way Markham discovered his win is also interesting. It was Sunday and he borrowed his newspaper to a neighbor, it was after his neighbor brought back the paper so that he could read the numbers to Markham that he discovered that he was the winner.
“He said ‘How’d your fare?’ I said, ‘I won,’” Markham told reporters at a news conference at lottery headquarters. “He said, “is that all you’re going to say?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I won.’ But I went over and looked at it, too.” He said he then contacted his accountant and attorney.
His girlfriend didn´t believe him at first when he told her, the only reason she believed him was because there was another person present and this person was in tears. And she was convinced that “It was the real thing”.
