FAMILY FROM IOWA WINS $1 MILLION

A woman from Boone says she passed through a state of “full pandemonium” after learning that a Powerball ticket she’d obtained at a Casey’s store was worth $1 million. US lottery.

The 32-year-old Mary Tillman claimed her cash this past Wednesday with her husband, Chad, 41, and their three children at Iowa Lottery headquarters in Des Moines.

She decided to claim her prize until she had finished some financial issues, although she had already won since the April 30th Powerball drawing. The family kept the winning ticket in a safe box until the day they decided to cash in.

Tillman said her mother-in-law phoned her briefly after the drawing to check if she had the winning ticket. Tillman grabbed her ticket and began to read off the numbers to her mother-in-law. She had picked the numbers using family ages and birthdays. Lottery results.

Just to make sure, Tillman said she drove herself to a local gas station and passed her ticket on a scanning device to corroborate that she had won.

Since then, the Tillmans have been silent all the way until they claimed their cash.

After giving $250,000 in federal taxes and $50,000 in state taxes, the Boone family took home a check Wednesday for $700,000. The Tillman members are planning to use the cash to fix a leaky garage roof and purchase a new family vehicle. They’ll invest the rest with a financial adviser. National lottery.
