$30,000 LOTTERY PRIZE UNCLAIMED
January 25, 2012

$30,000 are still on hold since, so far, no one has come forward to claim the money, with the winning ticket of Mega Millions lottery ticket that was sold last year on Black Friday at Ma & Pa’s Grocery Express. US lottery

The Mega Millions drawing was held the day after Thanksgiving, on Friday, Nov. 25, which is way people often refer to it as the “Black Friday.”

“I will say it’s a little unusual that a prize that size hasn’t been claimed,” said Andrew Bohage, spokesperson for the Wisconsin Lottery, “especially when it was purchased at Ma & Pa’s, where people tend to think they have a better chance at winning.”

For this particular winning, the ticket of the Mega Millions matched four of the five regular winning numbers and also the game’s Megaplier prize multiplier. This means that, with the Megaplier, what would have been a $10,000 winning ticket was turned into a $30,000 winner. Lottery results

The time’s winning numbers were 22, 28, 42, 49 and 54, with a Mega Ball of 43. The Megaplier prize multiplier was 03.

“It was drawn the day after Thanksgiving,” said Mike Forsyth, manager at Ma & Pa’s, 506 S. Main St. And since so many people come to this store to buy, even from faraway places, “I’m wondering if somebody was going through town and doesn’t realize it.”

In the past, the Wisconsin Lottery provided the time and date that the winning ticket was purchased and this information was made public which made it easier to determine who bought a winning ticket. These days that information is no longer available and so there is actually no way giving buyers a hint or clue that would make it easier for them to check again or think about their buying habits to see whether they could be the actually winner.

Bohage said that right now the winner has 180 days to claim the prize. If that does not happen, part of the revenue goes into the fund for property tax relief for Wisconsin residents.

Over the years, Ma & Pa’s Grocery Express on Fond du Lac’s Miracle Mile has been home to a number of jackpot winners.

Even from as far away as Illinois, hopeful lottery players are known to travel from neighboring counties all the way to Ma & Pa’s Grocery Express to buy tickets when a large jackpot is up for grabs. And so, it is very common to have winners even from other states.

“Ma & Pa’s is an amazing place with an amazing reputation,” Bohage said.

So, if you or someone you know remembers going to Ma & Pa’s Grocery Express before November 25th, 2011 and getting a lottery ticket there, check again your old tickets just one more time. You may actually have a $30,000 Mega Millions lottery ticket in your hands waiting for you to cash it to become a happy winner and start off 2012 in a great way. We hope this time is you!
