Greg Harkenrider, one of the state’s top budget experts, said Wednesday that revenue from the popular Pick 4 game plummeted in November because more people than expected won prizes.

Kentucky Lottery chief financial officer Howard Kline said the payoff to Pick 4 players in November turned out to be far more than was taken in on the game.

Roughly half of Pick 4 players typically win prizes, but that changed when the numbers 0000 came up in the Nov. 21 Pick 4 Evening drawing. Turns out those were not only lucky numbers, but also favorite numbers for Pick 4 players.

Kline said the lottery paid out $2.1 million more than expected in prizes for the Pick 4 game that month.

Once again, for those that do not believe they will ever win something out of chance this is a story that will prove that theory wrong and very wrong. And what is even funnier is the fact that these numbers, the quad 0’s have their own odds to actually appearing on the draw all together. Why are these numbers such a favorite? Maybe they indicate a fresh start, or if you think about it zeroes are like full circles, yes as in everything that goes also comes back including money. Or maybe when people buy this combination they are having in mind how nice it would be to have whatever amount they have in their accounts with four zeroes added at the back of that number, that would be really nice !

No matter what was the reason or impulse behind all the people who were prompted to buy this very lucky set of zeroes, the fact is, it brought happiness to many lottery fans bringing extra money for the holidays and proving to the skeptics that people actually win. Yes, and they win every day whether the prize is big or small, and they win in every state as long as they have put their money and faith in a ticket. And once in a while, yes, they can even kick the house.
