WINCHESTER WOMAN TAKES A BREAK TO WIN $250,000 IN MEGA MILLIONS

Tina Herring of Winchester uses birthdays and anniversaries to choose her numbers. Her special numbers became extra special when she won $250,000 in Mega Millions on May 15.
She discovered her win on the Virginia Lottery’s mobile website by going to valottery.com on her smartphone’s browser. Her son could not believe it. “He thought, ‘Mom you’re nuts!’” Ms. Herring told Lottery officials. “There was a lot of disbelief there,” she added.
The winning numbers for the May 15 drawing were 10-11-12-14-24 and the Mega Ball number was 6. She matched the first five numbers to win $250,000. She bought the ticket at Sheetz, 1503 North Frederick Pike in Winchester.
Ms. Herring kept the ticket in her purse until she could claim her winnings. She said she plans to pay off some debt and take a trip to the beach this summer.
