TWIST OF FATE BEHIND LOTTERY WIN IN DANVILLE
June 26, 2012
You aren’t the only one who likes to read stories about people who have won big money playing the California Lottery. Delores Andersen has read them too, and she tells us she knew someday she would be included in that lucky group. “I used to visualize myself being a winner like they were,” Andersen said.
Andersen’s dream has become a reality. She won $312,766 after her ticket matched five numbers in the MEGA Millions draw on April 27. That was some time ago, but she has a good reason for waiting so long to claim her prize.
Delores used to live in California, but she now lives in Maryland. She returned to the Golden State two months ago to attend a friend’s birthday celebration. While here, Delores decided to pick up a Lottery ticket at the Chevron located at 145 Hartz Avenue in Danville (Contra Costa County). That’s the same retail location she used to buy her tickets when she was living in California and working in a local escrow office. “I lost my job in Danville and that’s why I moved to Maryland. It is sentimental for me why I bought it there,” Delores said.
Delores didn’t know she had won until she traveled back home recently, and even then Delores had a hard time convincing herself and her family. “I called my son-in-law and asked him to look it up. He said I was out of breath and hyperventilating,” she said. Well, her win was the real deal! Now, Delores can actually plan what she can do with her winnings, just like all those other California Lottery winners she had read so much about. “Believe me, it will all be put to good use.”
Her ticket successfully matched the numbers 5, 47, 2, 46 and 45, missing only the Mega number of 37. Another ticket sold in Los Angeles matched those same numbers and has since been claimed.
