TRAVELING THE COUNTRY, A DREAM COME TRUE VIA THE ILLINOIS LOTTERY
July 5, 2012
A Buffalo Grove resident was presented with an oversized check today for $1 million from the Illinois Lottery. Mark Myers purchased his $10 Illinois Lottery instant game at a Dominick’s in Buffalo Grove and became the newest Lottery millionaire.
Myers could not believe his luck when he realized he was holding a winning ticket in his hand. “It was surreal; I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I didn’t sleep for days, I was so excited to have won,” Myers fondly recalled.
After the initial shock of winning $1 million wore off, Myers realized that one of his life-long dreams is now about to become a reality -- he has the opportunity to travel across the U.S. and enjoy what our beautiful country has to offer. “Yep, I'll be able to take the vacation that I've always wanted to take; I'm going to travel across the United States, from Florida to California and back,” he stated.
Winning the lottery means a lot to Myers and it is definitely going to have a positive impact in his life. He shared his good news first with his friends saying they are all quite happy for him. “I am very grateful for this win because not only can I go on my dream vacation, I can pay down my bills and put some of the winnings in savings,” Myers said. “Yep, I'm gonna be happier, that's for sure. My life will be a little bit easier now,” he added.
Illinois Lottery representatives also presented Dominick’s with a bonus check for $10,000, one percent of the jackpot amount, for selling the lucky winning ticket. Store manager Joe Covganka was on hand to accept the oversized check on behalf of Dominick’s. “This great news is really good for all of us. It gets people excited and allows them to see that there are lots of winners out there,” said Covganka. “This recent win brings a lot of value to our store because it shows people that this is one of the lucky stores,” he added.
