ROSSVILLE WOMAN WINS $100,000 AT LAFAYETTE MEIJER
June 18, 2012
A Clinton County woman won $100,000 on a scratch-off ticket she purchased at a Lafayette Meijer store last week. Elizabeth Slabaugh of Rossville was shopping for a Father’s Day card at Meijer at 4901 State Road 26 E when she decided on a whim to buy a couple Hoosier Lottery Scratch-offs from the vending machine.
One of those tickets turned out to be a $100,000 winning ticket. It was one of six top prizes offered on the $5 Cash Bonus Scratch-off. Three remain unclaimed at this time.
“It’s pretty neat,” said Slabaugh. “It’s nice to have some options.”
As Slabaugh claimed her prize at Hoosier Lottery Headquarters in Indianapolis Friday, she confessed that she hadn’t intended to purchase the ticket that made her a big winner.
“After I put my money in the machine I realized the ticket I wanted was out. I had to choose another one, so I got Cash Bonus instead,” said Slabaugh. “There was a guy in line behind me, too. Another five minutes and he might have got it.”
Slabaugh is a lifelong Hoosier who works in manufacturing. She and her husband have pretty conservative plans for her $100,000 cash bonus.
“I’m probably going to invest a good chunk of it and maybe play with a little,” said Slabaugh. “We haven’t taken a vacation in years.”
