PORTLAND MAN WINS $10,000 PRIZE PLAYING FAST CASH INSTANT GAME

A spur of the moment decision to purchase a CT Lottery “Fast Cash” instant ticket was just the opportunity Gary Nichisti, Jr. of Portland needed to get some new tires for his car and a new lawn tractor. “I got lucky,” Nichisti told Lottery officials. “When I scratched the ticket and saw I won $10,000, I almost fell off the kitchen chair.”
Nichisti, a self-described occasional lottery player that normally buys $1 or $2 instant game tickets, decided uncharacteristically to take a chance on a $10 Fast Cash ticket. Nichisti’s choice really paid off when he scratched the prize area following a “KEY” win symbol and saw the $10,000 top prize. “I had to pinch myself that I wasn’t dreaming!” Nichisti told Lottery officials.
Nichisti collected a prize check for $6,833 (value after taxes) at CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill.
For selling Nichisti his top prize winning ticket, Gildersleeve Spirit Shop, located at 644 Main Street in Portland, will receive a $100 bonus check from the CT Lottery.
