How to Play Pick 3:

Match a three-digit number exactly to win $500 with a $1 wager.

Exact Order pays $500
For a chance to win $500, play Exact Order for $1. If you play the number 123 in Exact Order, for example, you will win $500 if 123 is drawn in that same order. When you play Exact Order, you do not win a prize if 321 or another combination is drawn. Chances of winning Exact Order are 1 in 1,000.

Any Order pays $80 or $160
The Any Order play has several winning combinations. If you play 123 Any Order for $1, you win $80 if the winning number is 123, 132, 213, 231, 312 or 321. With six different ways to win, chances of winning are 1 in 167.

If your three-digit number has a pair of digits that are the same, you would win $160 if you play Any Order for $1. If you play 113 Any Order, for example, you would win $160 if the winning number is 113, 131 or 311. With just three different ways to win, chances of winning are 1 in 333. It’s harder to win, so that’s why the prize is higher.

Pick 3 Pairs
To play Pick 3 Pairs, select two digits and their positions on a Pick 3 playslip. Each Pairs wager costs $1 or 50 cents. You win if the Pick 3 number drawn has your pair in the exact same order and in the exact same location that you played that pair. You win $50 if you wager $1; you win $25 if you wager 50 cents.

All Pick 3 Pairs wagers are Exact Order. If you bet 1-2 Front Pair, and the first two digits in the winning Pick 3 number are 1-2 in that order, you win. If the first two digits are 2-1 in that order, or if 1-2 are the last two digits, or if 1-2 are the first and last digits, you do not win if you played 1-2 Front Pair. You cannot use any of the other play options (Exact Order, Any Order, 50/50, Combo) with the pairs option.

On the playslip:

  • Mark Day, Night or Both.
  • Select the two digits for the Pairs option.
Front Pair: Mark one digit in column 1 and column 2.
Back Pair: Mark one digit in column 2 and column 3.
Split Pair: Mark one digit in column 1 and column 3.
  • Mark Front, Back or Split.
  • Do NOT mark Exact Order, Any Order, 50/50, or Combo.
  • Mark $1 or 50 cents.
  • You can play up to five pairs on a playslip.

On the Pick 3 ticket, the digit you did not select will appear as an X.

When you play Pick 3 Pairs, the other digit in the winning number will not affect the outcome of your pair.

Other ways to play Pick 3
You can:

  • Wager 50 cents on a Pick 3 number or pair. If you win with a 50 cent wager, you win half the prize for a $1 wager.
  • Play 50/50 and split your wager – half on Exact Order and half on Any Order. Not available on Pick 3 Pairs wagers.
  • Play Easy Pick and let the computer pick your number. Check the chart above for details on Pick 3 prizes, options and the chances of winning.
  • Play COMBO: Wager $1 on all exact-order combinations of a Pick 3 number. Win $500 if one of those combinations is drawn.

Optional Plays:

Mark the OPTIONAL PLAYS box for any of the following. Playing more than one drawing increases the ticket price by the number of drawings you choose.

Multi-Draw: Play more than one drawing, including the next.

Advance: Play any future drawing, or drawings, except the next.

Repeat: Your play repeats for more than one ticket.

Pick 3 Sellout:

Popular numbers sell out sometimes. Buying Pick 3 numbers is similar to buying tickets to a ball game or a concert: Any number could sell out. If you buy Pick 3 tickets early in the day, or in advance, you should be able to get the number you want.

For a Pick 3 drawing, 16,000 Exact Order tickets are available for each number. If a sold-out Pick 3 number is drawn, the Lottery would pay $8 million in prizes for that sold-out number. A sold-out number has the same chance of winning as any other number.

Pick 3 drawings are held twice daily, seven days a week. Cut-off time to buy tickets is 1:53 p.m. for day drawings and 10:45 p.m. for night drawings.
