MAN CLAIMS MEGA MILLIONS TICKET SOLD IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY WORTH OVER HALF A MILLION DOLLARS
August 3, 2012
Berle Simpson is grateful to have a little experience on his side and is hoping that will propel him to make good moves when it comes to the big chunk of money he just won. Simpson matched five numbers playing MEGA Millions in the July 24th draw to win $587,468!
Simpson says he had only purchased Lottery tickets at the Arco ampm located at 8001 Broadway in Lemon Grove (San Diego County) a couple of times before. This time one ticket hit big after matching the numbers 46, 5, 51, 9 and 38, missing only the Mega number of 5.
“I immediately freaked,” said Simpson about the moment he checked the numbers. “I just kept saying this can’t be happening.”
Since then Berle has been busy trying to get his ducks in a row before surrendering his ticket. “I talked to a tax attorney and financial planners,” said Simpson, who is determined to do responsible things with his money. He says he’s learned a lot after watching shows about prize winners who blow it. “I don’t want to be one of those…where they run out of money.”
Simpson will allow himself at least one splurge. He says he’s had his eye on one special car, an Audi S5, a high performance vehicle. That’s something a lot of men have to get out of their system. “Thank God I’m not 21,” said Simpson, who plans on not getting carried away with his new ride. “I haven’t even picked out the color yet. I’ll do that when I have my bargaining chips.”
