LOTTERY WINNER ENJOYING THE MOMENT

“I’m really happy.” Those three words describe how Gretchen Dietrich feels about the summer she’s been having. Along with doing things like camping and enjoying quality time with her family and friends, she just hit the top prize on a California Lottery Black Scratchers ticket…and won a whopping $250,000!
It’s been nearly a week since she bought the ticket at Nuevo Market, which is located at 29616 Nuevo Road in Nuevo (Riverside County), and Gretchen still doesn’t know what to make of her big win. That’s partly because of the way it came about. Gretchen and her husband had gone to visit a friend in the town of Hemet and decided to stop at a market not far from there to buy a Lottery ticket. Gretchen said she plays Scratchers, but had never played California Lottery Black. She picked it because another friend had recently won $200 on the game.
Later, in the store parking lot, Gretchen and her husband discovered Lady Luck was shining on them. “I couldn’t believe it. I was in shock. He was in shock too!” said Gretchen, admitting they were also screaming in the car.
Even then the win didn’t seem real, so Gretchen said they left for home and didn’t claim their ticket until now. Nobody knew – not even her young children. “I didn’t want to get too excited,” Gretchen said. Now that the ticket is out of her hands, Gretchen can finally allow herself to think about what she might do with her money. “I’m going to save it for my kids. Trying to make sure they go to school, college,” Gretchen added.
