LEES SUMMIT MAN WINS $1 MILLION POWERBALL PRIZE
June 27, 2012
A Lee’s Summit man just missed winning the Powerball jackpot, but walked away with a $1 million consolation prize. George Burke Jr. matched all five winning white-ball numbers in the June 13 Powerball drawing to win $1 million. He bought the winning ticket at Hy-Vee, 310 S.W. Ward Road, in Lee’s Summit. Hy-Vee received a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Annuity options are only available on jackpot wins, so Burke got a single payment of $710,000 after taxes. He used Quick Pick to select his winning numbers, which were:  7, 10, 14, 33 and 57.
