KOKOMO JOKESTER LAUGHING ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK
June 7, 2012
As he purchased a Hoosier Lottery Metal 7s ticket at Speedway at 2501 E. Markland Ave. in Kokomo, Donald Whitehead jokingly told the clerk to give him a winner.
“I said ‘the seventy-seven thousand would be nice,’” said Whitehead.
A few minutes later, as he scratched the ticket standing at his kitchen counter, Whitehead couldn’t believe his eyes when he realized he was holding a Hoosier Lottery ticket worth $77,777. He had won the top prize.
“I was kind of dumbfounded,” said Whitehead, who immediately showed the winning ticket to his wife, Angela, who refused to believe it was real. “She thought I was kidding.”
After much convincing, Whitehead was finally able to convince Angela that he wasn’t joking. Now the couple is laughing all the way to the bank.
“It’s nice to have that kind of extra financial security,” said Donald.
