BOISE, Idaho – Christmas came early for a Kimberly couple yesterday when they claimed a $100,000 winning Scratch ticket from the Idaho Lottery. Shane Depew, who works in maintenance at Kimberly Middle School, and Kelly Depew, who is a teacher at Kimberly Elementary School, claimed the first top prize of the Scratch GameTM 10X the Money in Boise.
“This is start over money,” said Kelly. “It’s going to pay off the bills and give us a fresh start. And the kids will be able to have nice presents under the tree for Christmas.”
“I bought one ticket in the morning that didn’t win, so I went back to the store in the afternoon and got another one,” explained Shane, who bought the winning ticket at the Fast Way 66 on Center Street in Kimberly. “I scratched it right there at the store and couldn’t believe it when I realized it was a $100,000 winner.”
Shane took the ticket and showed it to Kelly. When she realized it was indeed a $100,000 winner, she began to cry. “They were definitely happy tears,” Kelly confessed.
For their part in selling the winning ticket, Fast Way 66 receives a bonus of $10,000 from the Idaho Lottery. One top prize remains in the game.
