HENRY COUNTY MAN WINS $100,000 TOP PRIZE IN JEWEL 7S

When Benny Young of Bassett discovered he had won $100,000 in the Virginia Lottery’s Jewel 7’s game, there was just a slight problem. He was alone in the house and had no one to share it with.
“My wife was out,” he later told Lottery officials. “It was a long day waiting for her to come home and tell her.”
Mr. Young won with a ticket he bought at Stanley Mart, 1890 Fairystone Park Highway in Bassett. The retiree said he had a difficult time believing it when he saw that he’d won the top prize.
“My heart skipped a beat two or three times,” he said. “It didn’t register.”
Jewel 7’s (game # 1328) is one of dozens of games available from the Virginia Lottery. Tickets can be Ruby Red, like the one Mr. Young bought, Sapphire Blue, Diamond White or Emerald Green. Mr. Young is the second player to claim the $100,000 prize in game #1328, which means 14 top-prize tickets remain unclaimed.
