GRANBY MAN WINS $250,000 MEGA MILLIONS PRIZE
August 17, 2012
A Granby man claimed the $250,000 Missouri Lottery prize from the July 31 Mega Millions drawing. Frank Forichette, 52, bought a Quick Pick ticket for his birthday, but after thinking about it, decided to get his own numbers as well. His numbers matched all five white-ball numbers to win him the $250,000 prize. “I decided to play on the 31st because it was my birthday,” explained Forichette. “It’s just numbers I’ve been playing for a while.” He bought the winning ticket at Snak Atak, 752 Valley St., in Granby. The winning Mega Millions combination on July 31 was: 5, 18, 21, 29 and 41. “I play Mega (Millions), Powerball, Lotto and Show Me the Cash,” joked Forichette. “I don’t do Scratchers. I never win on them.” He won big playing Mega Millions. This is the 24th $250,000 prize won in Missouri since sales began for the game in 2010. “I used to just play Powerball,” he said. “I picked the numbers off it and put it on the Mega.” Happy with the win, Forichette said he would use the money to “pay off bills” and “fix up my house.” He explained that his home still needs repairs from a 2008 tornado. Forichette, who makes concrete molds for lawn decorations, told his boss it wasn’t enough to retire, but he was going to keep playing. “Just keep playing,” he advised other players. “Eventually it will pay off. It’s worth a buck.”
