GEORGIA NEWCOMER WINS $2,500,000 IN HENRY COUNTY
July 27, 2012
A fairgrounds concessions worker who moved to Georgia earlier this month has wrapped his hands around a multi-million dollar prize from the Georgia Lottery. Former Fredericksburg, Va., resident Joseph Burnette has won a $2.5 million top prize playing the instant game Millionaire Jumbo Bucks.
“It’s real,” the 31-year-old exclaimed as Georgia Lottery representatives presented him with an oversized check. Burnette claimed his hefty prize Wednesday at Georgia Lottery headquarters in Atlanta.
Stockbridge CITGO, located at 115 Highway 138 W. in Stockbridge, sold the lucky ticket and a Georgia Millions instant ticket that revealed a $20 prize the same day. He scratched both in the store.
“I was going for gas, and I paid for it,” Burnette explained. “I didn’t even get the gas. I fell down.”
Winning the prize is an exciting twist to his transition.
“I’m going to get a car and a computer,” he shared.
