COUNCIL BLUFFS MAN CLAIMS $1 MILLION POWERBALL PRIZE ON BEHALF OF TRUST
June 1, 2012
A Council Bluffs man claimed a $1 million Powerball prize Friday on behalf of a family trust.
Jason Rice claimed the prize in the name of the Winning Pair Revocable Trust on Friday afternoon at Iowa Lottery headquarters in Des Moines. He had won the prize with a ticket he bought at a Council Bluffs convenience store for Wednesday night's Powerball drawing.
It's the fourth $1 million-winning Powerball ticket purchased in Iowa since the January debut of $2 Powerball and the second in a row for Council Bluffs. Just last month, a Council Bluffs woman had claimed a $1 million Powerball prize with a ticket she bought at a supermarket there.
The trust's ticket, purchased at D&S X-Press, 2924 N. Broadway, came close to winning it all in Wednesday's $144 million jackpot drawing, matching the first five numbers but missing the Powerball. The winning numbers that night were: 9-10-24-52-56 and Powerball 14.
