COLUMBIA MAN CASHES IN $250,000 MEGA MILLIONS TICKET SOLD AT OBAMA GAS STATION
July 24, 2012
A $250,000 Mega Millions ticket sold at the “Obama Gas Station” in Columbia has been claimed by a local man.
The winner told lottery officials he’s a big fan of the show Lottery Changed My Life and admits coming so close to winning a multi-million dollar jackpot has changed his life for the better.
“I needed this,” the winner shared. “I’m going back to school.”
He matched five white ball numbers but missed the Megaball number to win a quarter-of-a- million dollars (1 - 13 - 21 - 49 - 55 MB: 17 / Megaplier: 4).
After checking his Mega Millions ticket the morning after the Tuesday, July 17 drawing, he ran around his house screaming and waving the winning ticket.
“I would have been a millionaire if I’d matched one more number,” he said. “I’m glad for what I won.”
He’s a regular customer at the “Obama Gas Station,” and felt the place was a hot spot for lottery winners since the location sold a $2 million Powerball ticket in April. Last month the “Obama Gas Station” sold a $75,000 winning Big Bonus Crossword scratch-off.
For selling the claimed Mega Millions ticket, Alhanik LLC known as the “Obama Gas Station” in Columbia received a commission of $2,500.
