$1 MILLION POWERBALL TICKET SOLD IN DINOSAUR

GRAND JUNCTION – A lucky Utah resident is $1 million richer after matching five numbers in Saturday’s Powerball drawing and choosing the Power Play option for an extra $1. The ticket holder who wished to remain anonymous, claimed the $1 million windfall at the Colorado Lottery’s Grand Junction office Monday afternoon. The winner purchased the lucky ticket at Loaf ‘N Jug, 101 W. Brontosaurus Blvd. in Dinosaur, Colo., located just east of the Utah border. The store, ranked fifth in sales of Lottery tickets statewide, will receive a $3,000 bonus for selling the lucky ticket.
Saturday’s $1 million win marks the second week in a row and the fifth time this year that a ticket sold in Colorado has earned a $1 million Powerball prize. In January, the states participating in Powerball changed the rules, so that players who match five numbers and choose Power Play have their winnings multiplied by up to five. Previously, players who matched five numbers and chose Power Play had their winnings multiplied by whatever Power Play number was selected for that drawing. Colorado was the only state to post a $1 million winner in Saturday’s drawing.
“These winners show that spending the extra $1 on Power Play is certainly worth the investment,” said Colorado Lottery Director Jack Boehm. “We’re glad to see the changes that were made to Powerball benefitting our players.”
The winning numbers for Saturday’s Powerball drawing were: 2, 19, 26, 41, 54 and the Powerball number 23. Since no one won the $55.3 million jackpot in the Oct. 31st drawing, the top prize will rise to an estimated $66 million for Wednesday’s drawing.
