WINNING NUMBERS HOTLINE ENDS
October 13, 2009
(PIERRE, SD) - Beginning Nov. 1, 2009, lottery players wanting the latest winning numbers will no longer be picking up their phones to get them.
The South Dakota Lottery's 1-900 winning numbers hotline will take its last calls the end of this month. Players began accessing the hotline in October of 2002; the service provides the winning lotto numbers at a cost of 99-cents for the first minute and 10-cents for each additional minute.
Lottery executive director Norm Lingle says the decision to discontinue the service was prompted by declining use by players.
"As the information became more available at retailers and on the Lottery website, we found fewer players were utilizing the hotline," Lingle said. "We hope those players who still use the service will find it just as convenient, if not more so, to visit our website or their local retailer for the same information."
