POPULAR TRIPLES DRAWN IN THE DAILY NUMBER EVENING GAME

Middletown – Pennsylvania Lottery players whose favorite Daily Number is 8-8-8 can count on a little extra money following Saturday’s nighttime drawing.
The payout to Daily Number game players for the Oct. 3 nighttime drawing totaled $3,144,100. A total of 12,679 tickets were sold for the winning number combination. A 50-cent wager on the Daily Number pays $250; a $1 wager pays $500.
Triple eights have been drawn a total of 14 times since The Daily Number drawing began in March 1977. The last time 8-8-8 was drawn was Jan. 10, 2009, in the nighttime draw. Sept. 20, 2009, was the last time any triples combination, 0-0-0, was drawn. This is the fourth time a triple has been drawn as the winning Daily Number this year, taking into account both mid-day and evening drawings.
Triples have been drawn a total of 158 times – 130 times in the evening drawings and 28 times in the mid-day drawings – since the debut of The Daily Number; 2001, 2007 and 2008 are currently tied for the most triples drawn in a year with 10 each.
