POPULAR TRIPLES DRAWN IN THE DAILY NUMBER MID-DAY GAME

Middletown – Pennsylvania Lottery players whose favorite Daily Number is 2-2-2 can count on a little extra money following Saturday’s mid-day drawing.
The payout to Daily Number game players for the Oct. 17 mid-day drawing totaled $2,873,750. A total of 11,576 tickets were sold for the winning number combination. A 50-cent wager on the Daily Number pays $250; a $1 wager pays $500.
Triple twos have been drawn a total of 21 times since The Daily Number drawing began in March 1977. The last time 2-2-2 was drawn was Dec. 15, 2008, in the mid-day draw. Oct. 3, 2009, was the last time any triples combination, 8-8-8, was drawn. This is the fifth time a triple has been drawn as the winning Daily Number this year, taking into account both mid-day and evening drawings.
Triples have been drawn a total of 159 times – 130 times in the evening drawings and 29 times in the mid-day drawings – since the debut of The Daily Number; 2001, 2007 and 2008 are currently tied for the most triples drawn in a year with 10 each.
