TEN CO-WORKERS SHARE A SIGNIFICANT LOTTO 6/49 PRIZE

Montréal – A group of co-workers and retirees won $8,160,985, that is half the Lotto 6/49 jackpot in the August 15, 2009, draw. The other half was also won in Québec. The ten winners, who each received a cheque for a little over $800,000, all live in the Montérégie region. Some group members have been playing the lottery together for over 30 years! Luc Béchard (seated, at centre) has been responsible for the group's tickets for the past ten years. When he went to have the lucky ticket validated, it was the tune played by the machine that first caught his attention: "I was a little surprised that the music played longer than usual. The clerk was speechless! When she finally managed to say that I had just won $8,160,985, I was really in shock!" Mr. Béchard quickly went to place the valuable ticket in a safety deposit box at the bank until he could contact all the winners. They were all smiles in the Winners' Lounge at Loto-Québec's headquarters as they waited to collect their new fortune.

The winning ticket was purchased from Dépanneur Boni-Soir, located at 247-A chemin Sainte-Catherine in Saint-Constant. The retailer will receive an $81,609 commission, equal to 1% of the prize.
