STORE PROVES TO BE LUCKY FOR CHRISTIAN COUNTY MAN; WINS $100,000 ON SCRATCH-OFF
October 9, 2009
Jerry Breedlove, 62, of Crofton stopped by what he called his lucky store Wednesday afternoon just to buy his lottery tickets. He had won $500 at his “lucky store”, The Copper Still, on Dawson Springs Road two weeks prior.
Jerry bought a $10 Blockbuster Cash ticket and scratched it off at his car. “I matched the first number and assumed that I had won a free ticket. Then I scratched the 100 and thought, ‘ I won $100’ but then I realized there were more zeroes,” Jerry told lottery officials.
Jerry went back into the store and said to the clerk, “How much money you got back there?” She said, “Oh no, not again.” He said, “No, just give me a pen,” and starting filling out the back of the ticket.
“I was on a high all day. I never thought it would happen,” Jerry said.
Jerry drove to lottery headquarters on Thursday to cash in his winning ticket. He walked out with a check for $69,000 after taxes.
The Christian County man is retired from the Union Pacific Railroad has no immediate plans for his winnings but to put it away for later in life.
