OKLAHOMA CASH 5 AND PICK 3 MOVE TO COMPUTERIZED DRAWINGS SEPT. 20, 2009
September 15, 2009
Oklahoma City – The Oklahoma Lottery announces its decision to move to computerized drawings for its Oklahoma Cash 5 and Pick 3 games effective Sept. 20, 2009. The Oklahoma Lottery will also eliminate the nightly televised drawings with this change.

The Pick 3 drawing has aired live since November 2005 while the Oklahoma Cash 5 drawing has been airing since September 2006, both currently air on Oklahoma City.

“We are always looking for ways to be more resourceful and discontinuing the live broadcast of Cash 5 and Pick 3 and moving to computerized drawings in these tough economic times is one way for us to be even more fiscally responsible,” said Jim Scroggins, executive director of the Oklahoma Lottery. “If we did not move to computerized drawings, our drawing machines would have to be replaced soon, which could potentially cost in excess of $150,000. We are confident this change will not detract from our players’ enjoyment of the games.”

Computerized draws are now used by more than 50 percent of U.S. Lotteries.
