“It’s nice to win!” said a smiling Tom Newman of Minneapolis as he claimed a $63,924 Northstar Cash jackpot at the Lottery’s headquarters in Roseville on Aug. 31.
He had found out earlier that morning that he won by looking up the winning numbers on the Lottery’s Web site. “I had a few extra minutes, so I decided to check,” he said.
The day before, he had gathered up all of his winning Lottery tickets and redeemed them at a Lottery retailer. The winning tickets totaled $27 and he decided to use his winnings to purchase 27 Northstar Cash tickets for that night’s drawing.
The last ticket that he checked turned out to be the winner. “I couldn’t believe it! I left the room and came back and looked again — still a winner!”
Holiday, located at 107 – 6th St. S.E. in Minneapolis, sold the winning ticket.
Players have one year from the date of the drawing to claim all prizes.
To play Northstar Cash, players select five numbers from 1 to 31. Matching the five numbers drawn wins the jackpot, which starts at $25,000 and grows until it is won. Players also win by matching 2, 3 or 4 of the numbers drawn.
Northstar Cash drawings are conducted daily after the Daily 3® drawing. Tickets must be purchased by 6:10 p.m. on the day of the drawing.
