A rainy afternoon at Cape Cod turned into a sunny day for Barbara Knowles when showers sent her indoors to play KENO instead of the beach. While playing KENO, she bought her favorite instant ticket – Sweetheart Cash – and won half a million dollars. Knowles of Marblehead received her check for $500,000 before taxes today at Lottery headquarters in Braintree.
She bought the lucky ticket at AM/PM Convenience on Bearses Way in Hyannis. The store will receive a $5,000 commission on the sale.
Sweetheart Cash, a $5 instant ticket, features eight prizes of $500,000. Overall, there are more than 1.6 million winning tickets in the game.
