RICHMOND MAN WINS $250,000 IN MEGA MILLIONS

Willie Walker of Richmond doesn’t play Mega Millions often. In fact, when his wife asked him to buy a ticket for the June 23 drawing, he said, “I didn’t even really know how to win.”
He did win. His ticket matched the first five numbers to win Mega Millions’ second prize of $250,000.
“I couldn’t believe it,” he told Lottery officials when he claimed his prize.
He bought the winning ticket at Spencer’s Express, located at 4000 Kingsland Road in Richmond. He used Easy Pick, allowing the computer to randomly select the numbers on his ticket. The winning numbers for that drawing were 12-14-16-31-50 and the Mega Ball was 9.
When he discovered he had a winning ticket, he immediately called his wife. She called her beautician.
Mr. Walker’s ticket was the only one in Virginia to win $250,000 in that drawing and one of just six nationwide.
