Congratulations to Lorelei Boiani of Tiverton, RI who today claimed the first of 25 $1 million prizes in the Lottery’s newest $10 instant game, $100,000 a Year for Life. Boiani came to Braintree headquarters to collect the first of 20 annuity payments of $50,000 before taxes.
She purchased the lucky ticket at the Maplewood Superette located at 1555 Stafford Road in Fall River. The store will receive a $10,000 commission on the sales.
The $100,000 a Year for Life debuted on June 16, 2009 and offers 10 prizes of $100,000 a year for a lifetime and another 25 prizes of $1 million. The grand prizes are also now offered with cash options.
Players will have the option to choose either a lump sum of $650,000 or a $1 million annuity comprised of 20 annual payments of $50,000. The $100,000 a Year for Life prize has a guaranteed $2 million minimum prize, or a cash option payment of $1,300,000 (less applicable taxes and withholdings) in lieu of lifetime annuity payments.
The first prize in this new game comes just as the Set for Life game closed. The 25th and final prize of $100,000 a year for life prize was sold by the Stop & Shop on Paradise Road in Swampscott on June 19. The 66th and final $1 million prize was sold earlier this month at Lightship Beer on Union Street in Lawrence.
