TWO BALL AEROSPACE WORKERS SPLIT $200,000 POWERBALL PRIZE
June 4, 2009
DENVER – Pat Weber and Terry Hutson have been buying $5 worth of Powerball tickets twice a week for six years. On Wednesday, their dedication to the game finally paid off. The Ball Aerospace co-workers matched five numbers in the Powerball drawing June 3rd to win a $200,000 prize.
“I haven’t been to bed because I can’t sleep,” said Weber, who found out she and Hutson won after checking their tickets Wednesday night. “My husband still doesn’t believe it.”
Hutson, however, received the news in a more low-key manner.
“He didn’t get out of bed,” laughed Weber, who called Hutson just after 10:30 p.m. to inform him of their win.
The largest amount Weber had won previously was $200 playing the Lottery’s Crossword Scratch game. She bought the winning ticket (which was purchased with winnings from the last drawing) at 7-Eleven, 110 Broad St., Milliken. The store will receive $2,000 for selling the lucky ticket. The winning numbers were: 16, 20, 22, 32, 37, and Powerball number 9.
Weber plans to use her half of the winnings to pay off her car, while Hutson will put his windfall into savings. The duo, who have worked together for 15 years, already have their tickets in hand for Saturday’s drawing.
“We’ll play until we win (the jackpot) or retire,” said Hutson.
