TICKET PURCHASED AT AIRPORT WINS $200,000 POWERBALL PRIZE
June 22, 2009
DENVER – One lucky traveler is $200,000 richer today, after purchasing a ticket at Denver International Airport that matched five numbers in Saturday’s Powerball drawing. The $200,000 Powerball-prize winning ticket was purchased at World Wide Money Exchange on the B Terminal at DIA. The airport-based retailer is consistently one of the Colorado Lottery’s top-selling outlets, ranking 21st in total sales in 2008. World Wide Money Exchange will receive a $2,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
The ticketholder has until Dec. 17th to claim his or her prize. The winning numbers in Saturday’s drawing were: 3, 11, 18, 22, 28 and the Powerball number 33. One ticket sold in Kings Mountain, North Carolina matched all five numbers plus the Powerball number to win the $88.1 million jackpot. Colorado was one of nine states that sold Powerball tickets worth $200,000. Another three tickets matched five numbers and included the Power Play option, yielding $1 million prizes. The Powerball jackpot resets to $20 million for Wednesday’s drawing.
