OKLAHOMA LOTTERY NAMES NEW MILLIONAIRE

Oklahoma City – Allen Passmore of Duncan has claimed the winning Powerball ticket from Saturday’s drawing worth $1,000,000.
Passmore, a regular Lottery player, has a routine of buying his tickets from his local retailer, the Camelback Corner, 4001 N. 81, in Duncan. What’s not routine is his decision to add Power Play.
Passmore’s winning ticket matched five of five white balls for an original $200,000 prize, however, since he chose the Power Play option the multiplier was 5x making the prize $1,000,000.
With the Powerball matrix change that went into effect in January, anytime you purchase Powerball with the Power Play option and match 5 of 5 white balls, you will automatically win $1,000,000. The Power Play multiplier will remain 2, 3, 4 or 5 times for the seven remaining lower level prizes.
“I don’t always play Power Play but I’m definitely glad I did this time!” said Passmore, who received his numbers through Quick Pick.
He learned of his win while watching television. His girlfriend had heard that the Lottery was looking for a million dollar winner and asked if he had checked his tickets.
“When I realized I won, I hit the floor,” he said. “My girlfriend thought I was acting at first. It’s just surreal.”
As a pilot, Passmore is normally out of town for days at a time and doesn’t check his tickets regularly.
“I could have easily held this winning ticket for a couple of weeks,” he said.
Passmore plans to take his winnings and invest carefully.
As a nod to his favorite retailer, the Camelback Corner will receive $5,000 through the Oklahoma Lottery Retailer Bonus Program for selling the winning ticket.
Passmore is the Oklahoma Lottery’s first 2009 million dollar winner since the matrix change for Powerball and the sixth million dollar winner since the Lottery’s launch in 2005.
The lucky numbers drawn were 13, 16, 20, 35, 41 and the Powerball number was 6. The Power Play multiplier was 4.
