BALTIMORE WOMAN WINS $50,000 ON HER “LUCKY DAY”
June 9, 2009
(Baltimore) – Jimmie Isom was in the kitchen making his morning coffee when his wife, Jean, told him she won $50,000 playing Bonus Match 5. “She always kids about it, so at first I didn’t believe her,” Jimmie said. “But when I saw the ticket, I knew she wasn’t kidding.” The couple, who have been married for almost 40 years, came to Lottery Headquarters on Monday to claim their prize.

Jean, 74, plays Bonus Match 5 almost every week, buying eight tickets at a time. Although she used Quick Pick to randomly generate her numbers, each of the numbers on the winning ticket mean a lot to Jean. She noted that each number was the birth month of a family member.

Jean believes she won on her lucky day since she purchased her ticket on June 7. She said seven has always been her lucky number since July is her birth month.

Jean and her husband will use the money to take a trip to Atlantic City next month to celebrate her 75th birthday. The winning ticket was purchased at the Wise Avenue Citgo, located at 220 Wise Ave. in Baltimore.
