CLINTON MAN WINS $50,000 TOP PRIZE ON JACKPOT RICHES SCRATCH-OFF
June 12, 2009
(Baltimore) – Shon Williams said that his wife has a habit of letting the gas in her car get low. Being the doting husband, he took her car to refuel and while at the gas station observed a gentleman purchasing Maryland Lottery scratch-offs. “I saw him and thought I’m going get a couple,” said the occasional Lottery player.

Shon, who was accompanied to Lottery Headquarters by his wife, Jehan, and their 7-month-old daughter, bought a $5 and $10 ticket and took them home. It wasn’t until two or three hours later that he remembered to scratch them. The band and choral teacher won $15 on the $10 ticket, but it was the $5 Jackpot Riches scratch-off that really paid off. “I was numb,” said the 38-year-old. “I called my wife and said, ‘Baby, I’ve got a major surprise for you.’”

The father-of-three said that in keeping with the recession, he will use his money to pay bills and put some away. He is also looking into investing in a couple franchises.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Clinton Citgo, located at 9100 Piscataway Road in Clinton.
