ATLANTA – A $50,000 lottery win has stopped Janet Hayes of Waycross in her tracks. The 39-year-old was on her way to eat breakfast when she decided to purchase the Georgia Lottery’s Jumbo Bucks Classic instant ticket, winning a top prize.
"I was in complete shock," the mother of three said. "That canceled my breakfast plans."
Stop & Save #0023, 500 Memorial Drive in Waycross, sold the winning ticket. Hayes scratched it in her car.
"Tears were rolling from my face," she said. "My heart is still rushing."
A lottery-funded HOPE recipient, Hayes graduated from Okefenokee Technical College with a computer networking diploma.
She plans to pay off her vehicle so that she can purchase a new car for her 20-year-old son.
