POWERBALL JACKPOT NEARLY $200 MILLION
May 22, 2009
DENVER – With the $192 million up for grabs in Saturday’s Powerball drawing, you could fill the Pepsi Center with your friends and family, and buy everyone a drink and a hot dog. The Cash Value for the jackpot is $99.8 million.
“Whenever the jackpot gets this high, we see more people buying tickets, even people who have never bought one before,” said Colorado Lottery Director Jack Boehm. “People like to dream about how they could change their lives and give back to their communities.”
Powerball is Colorado’s largest jackpot game. Jackpots start at $20 million and climb until someone wins. The last time someone won the Powerball jackpot was April 8, 2009. One family in Washington D.C. won $144 million. Colorado has had one jackpot winner since it joined the game in 2001. The SEEP Financial Group won $20 million in October, 2007.
