$1 MILLION TICKET CLAIMED

The $1 million winning PowerBall® Power Play® ticket sold in Rhode Island for the $94.7 million PowerBall® drawing on May 6 has been claimed by a man from Brockton, Mass.
The winner matched all five numbers except the PowerBall® number, winning the standard payout of $200,000, but because he wagered the extra $1 for the PowerPlay® option, he became a millionaire! He said he always plays Power Play®, ever since he accidentally marked “yes” one time and won a lot more than he expected. That extra dollar certainly paid off on this win.
The winning numbers were different than what he normally plays because luckily he had forgotten the slip with his favorite numbers when he went to buy the ticket, so he randomly picked some new ones.
The winner cashed in his ticket late this morning and was practically shaking with excitement. He said he had told some of his coworkers that he had won, but wasn’t sure how much, so every day at work, they’d ask why he was still working. The winner would respond, “I need the money, I haven’t had time to go to the Lottery.” Aside from his joking, he has no plans of retiring. Instead, he said he was going to save the money for his six daughters. He hasn’t told his girls about his big win because he wants to save it for them until they really need it and then surprise them.
Li’l General at 600 Main St., Pawtucket, sold him the winning ticket.
