LUCKY-4-LIFE GETS A GRADE OF A+ FOR THIS WEST HAVEN COLLEGE STUDENT
April 17, 2009
“It was a fluke.” That’s how Lacey Cappello, an 18-year old college student from West Haven described her recent $10,000 win on the CT Lottery’s newest draw game, Lucky-4-Life. And now, that lucky win will help to make Lacey’s plan to graduate from college and perhaps buy a car come true.
As CT Lottery’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing Paul Sternburg presented Lacey with a $7,000 check (the prize value after taxes were deducted) earlier today, she had no hesitation when asked what she planned to do with her windfall – pay next year’s tuition to the in-state college she attends, and possibly use the rest to purchase a car for her commute to campus.
It was Lucky-4-Life’s top prize of up to $2,000 a week for life that drew Lacey and her grandmother, to purchase tickets for “Lucky’s” April 6, 2009 drawing at the Grocery & Deli Shoppe, 908 Howard Avenue, in New Haven. Lacey’s ticket purchase was a spur of the moment decision, and a lucky one, at that.
To play Lucky-4-Life, players select 4 numbers from a pool of 39 and then select one number, the Lucky Ball number, from another pool of 39. Rather than select her own numbers, Lacey’s one ticket was a Quick Pick, a ticket on which the numbers were selected at random by the Lottery computer at the retail location.
Lacey’s $10,000 win was the result of matching 4 of the 5 numbers drawn during the Monday, April 6, 2009 Lucky-4-Life drawing. Numbers drawn that night were 05 - 06 - 11 - 28, and the Lucky Ball was 39. Lacey’s ticket matched all but the Lucky Ball, and for that, she won $10,000.
