ST. LOUIS WOMAN CLAIMS $100,000 LOTTERY PRIZE

A St. Louis mother of six plans to “pay off bills and put a nice down payment on a house” after uncovering a $100,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers game. Virginia Rice purchased her winning “$200,000 A Year For Life” ticket at Petro Mart, 2701 Telegraph Rd. in St. Louis, on April 10.
Rice, 31, had gone to Petro Mart to pick up her fiancé from work. Having tried the game earlier without a win, she decided to “give it another shot.”
She began scratching the $20 ticket in her vehicle, but stopped short when she realized she had won at least $10,000.
“When I saw the first one for $10,000, I had to look at it several times,” she said. “I jumped up and ran back into the store yelling ‘I won $10,000.’”
After a few minutes to “calm down a little,” Rice finished scratching her ticket, admittedly “shaking the whole time.” The nervousness paid off as her ticket ultimately revealed a $100,000 prize – one of 20 offered by the game, which officially began Jan. 31. To date, Missouri Lottery players have won more than $10 million playing “$200,000 A Year For Life.”
